Campfire Eyes
Julie Cote-Marinelli

Pick it up, cut it out while the campfire’s alive
Watch your mouth and sleep till a better day arrives
What a waste
Roll it out
Can’t find a get-away
So run it down the line
Till you say it’s a better day

Hey, your campfire eyes, can they read through mine today
Hey, hey, hey, now that I’m mesmerized by your campfire eyes today

Pick it up, that’s all it is, the campfire
Somehow let it go
I’ll let you be
I’ll let you be another way
It goes, something goes, so far into the night below
But that would only be tonight

Hey, your campfire eyes, can they read through mine today
Hey, hey, hey, now that I’m mesmerized by your campfire eyes today

Pick it up, cut it out while the campfire’s alive
Watch your mouth and sleep till a better day arrives
What a waste
Roll it out
Can’t find a get-away
So run it down the line
Till you say it’s a better day

Woman Speak
Julie Cote-Marinelli

Time is not an enemy unless you leave it be
Time goes by and these lives have been lost
I suppose if there’s an enemy, I don’t want to know this entity
Do you speak?

Woman speak, we’re listening
Your silence holds the weight of the world
Woman speak when the walls break down and the tables turn
Please woman speak

I don’t presume much of anything
I just pray there’s something we can do
Time is wasting and we just sit back and watch
It’s not my child, not my brother, nothing to me
Do you speak?

Woman speak, we’re listening
Your silence holds the weight of the world
Woman speak when the walls break down and the tables turn
Please woman speak

It’s not my child, not my brother, nothing to me
If only we heard from a mother within her skin
No time would be wasted listening

Woman speak, we’re listening
Your silence holds the weight of the world
Woman speak when the walls break down and the tables turn
Please woman speak

Perfect Place
Julie Cote-Marinelli, Kenny Byrka

Saw a house on a hill in a nothing place
It had a yard and a fence and a garden gate
There was a man cutting grass with a smile on his face
It was perfect

Saw his wife in the back looking over the kids
They kept the sand in the box with the perfect lid
The garage had a car with a golden skid
It was heaven

If he could, yes he would choose another take
He’d build a boat and float on an open lake
And on the beach under a tree eating strawberry cake
She’d be lovely
What a perfect place

Saw a man by a house looking over the land
Oak tree, red barn and a dog named Sam
Boy with a hat only learning to stand
It was something

Saw the door open wide looking over the west
She stepped outside to the yard in her orange dress
She called the boy with the man over, time for a rest
Should have been perfect

He would drift with the wind ending on the shore
He would walk on the beach to an open door
There be a house on the land with a muddy floor
It’d be simple
What a perfect place
